5 Ways How To Supercharge Learning

Learning and Creativity

"There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning."

Jiddu Krishnamurti

Intro: Learning Never Stops

If you're a Super Achiever determined to live the best life possible, you are curious about the world around you. You are open to the new possibilities of learning something everyday.

For you, growing in knowledge never stops, therefore, learning never stops.

Super Achievers are passionate about learning and develop an emotional connection with the subject matter they are learning.

If you have reached a point where your learning needs supercharged, here are 5 quick tips to keep your learning fresh and interesting.

Cultivate Imagination

1.

Cultivate Imagination

The next time you are engaged in hours of learning, pick an interesting fact or concept and begin to use your imagination.  Think about your subject matter a little differently than it is explained.

Allow yourself to explore the idea a little more creatively using the creative side of your brain.

Imagine images that would characterize what your learning about. How would you describe it in a new creative way? Or how could you think about it differently?

Make up a story about how you are using the information you're learning to make your life better. The story doesn't have to be serious, it could be silly or funny. Let your imagination loose.

Even if you think an idea sounds silly or seems like a distraction, allow yourself to pursue it.

If you are pressed for time, just try it for a few minutes and then get back to work. Even a small dose can get you directly engaged in your learning topic and will allow you to see other angles you may not have explored opening up new learning opportunities.

Experimentation and Imagination

2.

Encourage Experimentation and Alternative Approaches For Learning

Nothing boosts learning more that some experimentation on the concepts to see if they will work like you expect.

Does the material you're learning hold a candle to the practical applications you intend to use them. Experimentation helps you become much more interested in learning and finding ways to solve problems.

Everything you do has an element of problem solving, and learning is no different. As a learning tool, practice taking on some problems that you think you can solve.

Discovering a solution on your own through trial and error gives you some ownership over the learning process.

When you find the solution, you'll have a sense of accomplishment you wouldn't have if you merely memorized a solution provided in a book.

You will get a sense of accomplishment discovering a solution to a problem that you figured out on your own.  Start with some easy one and gradually up the level of difficulty.  The more you are able to solve, the more confident you will become.

That motivation and confidence will help you develop a passion for learning because you'll see learning as something you're good at.

Opportunity to Invent

3.

Create Opportunity For Innovative Learning

One way to spice up your learning is to look for innovative ways to use what you are learning. Try to apply the things you've learned to different circumstances.

Look around for opportunities to improve various tasks or projects, and try to find new ways to do something that needs some improvement.

Brainstorm to come up with different innovations or "hacks" that you can apply to old ways of doing things. This can stimulate learning and actually can increase productivity in a particular field.

If you're interested in a particular field, you might be able to find clubs or groups that have competitions to foster innovation in that field.

Time to Create

4.

Set Aside Time To Create

As a part of your learning, work in some creative or artistic pursuits into your daily life. Start getting into the creative headspace by spending two to three days a week doing something that keeps your creative mind active.

Another approach is to find something you enjoy and commit yourself to regular practice. You may want to pursuit something you enjoy but have neglected.

It could be painting, music, pottery, crafts or anything that requires regular practice to get good at.

Anything that can get your creative juices flowing is a good place to start.

Collaborate Together

5.

Use Collaboration To Expand Your Horizons

They say that two heads are better than one. When you engage in a collaboration between two people, it creates a third mind. Another force that would not have existed without the collaboration,

To expand your knowledge even further, find someone who shares your passion for learning and agrees to collaborate to expand your knowledge even further.

You can collaborate on a project and use ways to expand your knowledge.

When working with someone else, ask them lots of questions so you understand what they're doing and why. The conversation will help both of you actively engage in the process.

Figuring out how others solve problems gives you a different perspective, and opens your mind to new possibilities.
