How To Set The Foundation To Become A Super Achiever

Determine To Change

Anyone can become a Super Achiever by doing what you do to the best of your ability. You don't have to be famous to be a Super Achiever, and you don't have to be super talented.

Being a Super Achiever is highly personal and one person's idea of Super Achievement may not be someone else's definition.

What matters most is that you get started on your journey to become the best you can be. You just have to get started and keep going until you reach your goals and aspirations.

As the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu one said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

If you want to know how to set the foundation for Super Achievement, here are some tips that will get you started.

The road to Super Achievement may be more attainable than you think.

Let's get started.

1

Decide On Your Major Goal

Learning From Your Experience

The journey to becoming a Super Achiever can't start until you do one thing first. That one thing is to define the one goal that you want to accomplish.

Think about your strengths and weaknesses, your available resources, and the support system that can help.

Then look at your desire to work to achieve that goal. Is it something that you are willing to put in the time necessary for its accomplishment? Is it something you really enjoy and want to work at?

Research shows that if you have a strong enough desire to accomplish the goal, you will be more likely to succeed.

Determine what your major goal in life is and write it down. Put it in concrete and you will be ready to begin your journey to become a Super Achiever.

2

Make Your Goal Specific

Confidence

One more thing to add about determining your goal that will help you accomplish it a lot quicker is to make that goal very specific.

This is beneficial for two reasons. One is that when you have specific goals, you will know exactly what you need to accomplish that goal.

The second reason is that when your goal is specific, you will know exactly when you have accomplished it. A vague target is hard to hit, but when it is well defined, you know exactly when you've hit the mark.

Put success on your side by making your goals specific.

3

Determine To Keep A Positive Mindset Through Positive Visualization

Don't Be A Victim

A way to stack the deck in your favor is to use positive visualization to achieve your goal.

Why? Because studies have shown that visualization can be effective in improving athletic and academic performances.

So you can use the same techniques to accomplish any goal you set.

Basically there are two type of visualization, outcome visualization and process visualization. You should use them both to get the best results.

Outcome visualization is the process of imagining yourself achieving your desired goal. It should be as detailed as possible and should use all your senses.

Some people set up a vision board to help them create a mental picture.

Process visualization involves imagining all the steps you need to take in order to achieve your goal. Think about each action you will take leading up to and during the accomplishment of your goal.

Both outcome and process visualization work best when you put a positive spin on everything that you visualize. That way your positive process will lead to a positive outcome.

4

Take Immediate Action

Be flexible in life

Now it's time to turn that process visualization into some positive action. Once you have envisioned each step you need to take to achieve your goal, it is time to take some action to make each step a reality.

You can use positive visualization in conjunction with positive actions to move closer to your goal.

Take it one step at a time and slowly walk through every step you need to take. Visualization before you take the steps makes taking those actions a lot easier. You already have in your mind how things should go. Just follow through with action.

Once you get a few steps under your belt, you'll find that it will give you momentum going forward. Before you know it, you will be on a roll.

5

Put Yourself Out There

Share Your Talent

Next, put yourself out there. I know it is probably one of the hardest things for you to do, but no one will ever see your greatness unless you put yourself out there.

I call this process, performing shameless promotion. Most people have a hard time with this. They don't want to be a braggart, but if you do it right, people will see your real value.

Promoting yourself can be terrifying because it exposes you to other's opinions and critiques that may or may not be helpful. If you can filter the constructive criticism from the negative, it can actually help you get better at what you do.

So don't be afraid to step out there on a limb. You'll be glad you did.

6

Break Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Share Your Talent

True greatness can't be achieved until you break out of your comfort zone. Breaking your comfort zone means that you are striving for higher performance levels.

Research has shown that individuals need to enter the space just outside your comfort zone called the "optimal anxiety" zone. If you can occupy this area as often as possible, you are truly challenging yourself.

The more you challenge yourself the more your comfort zone expands. Next thing you know, you will be operating at you highest levels of performance.

Taking that risk is what will prepare you for even greater challenges with added confidence that you can handle whatever comes your way.

7

Stay In It For You

fight the urge

There will come a time when your works will be judged by others. And they may not always think what you are doing will lead to greatness.

That's when it's time to realize that what you are doing is not for them, it is purely for you. It is for your fulfillment because you have a passion for what you do.

Never lose sight of the fact that you are not doing what you do to impress others. You are in it for you.

The only person you are competing with is your last performance. No one else really matters.

If you get out there and other people reject you for the work you do, put the blinders on and just keep getting better and better.

You will reach the heights you are striving for whether others recognize it or not. You are the only one you have to please.

8

Learn From Your Mistakes

Everyone knows that learning from your mistakes is the standard for becoming great. But people who continue to make the same mistakes over and over again will have a hard time succeeding.

Even though it is inevitable that you will make mistakes, the level and the degree of mistakes is important.

Best-selling author and inventor Scott Berkum, put mistakes into four basic categories. They are stupid mistakes, simple mistakes, involved mistakes, and complex mistakes.

"Stupid" mistakes are things that just happen. Leaving your wallet at home because you were running late and weren't paying attention, is an example.

Being human almost guarantees that these kinds of mistakes will happen occasionally. It hard to avoid these.

"Simple" mistakes are mistakes that can be avoided, but that weren't avoided because of a series of decisions you've make. Paying the bills late, or forgetting to get your oil changed in your car is an example. These take little effort to address, but they can be fixed fairly easily.

"Involved" mistakes involve more effort to keep you from making them, even though you probably know what the mistake is. An example is arriving late to work everyday, eating sweets when you're on a diet, or not turning in your homework assignment when it is due.

These mistakes require a significant amount of commitment and thought to prevent, because they can turn into a bad habits.

"Complex" mistakes are complex. They often have very significant consequences and no clear way to keep from making them again. They can be failed businesses, failed relationships, or actions that just have negative consequences.

To avoid these mistakes, you can try asking yourself some pointed questions to examine those mistakes to see what's really happening.

Questions like "What were my goals here?" or "What assumptions did I make in this situation?" can help shed light on what needs to change.

If you seem to keep making the same mistakes and things don't seem to change, maybe it's time to seek some advice from a trusted friend or from a support group.

They may be able to give you some honest feedback that can help you move forward. Just make sure their advice is useful.

9

Get Help When You Need It

Believe In Yourself

Becoming a Super Achiever is never a solo act. As you're achieving your goals always seek out the help and guidance of others who have already done what you are attempting to do.

They may have insights and knowledge that can save you tons of time and frustration. Generally, people who have already made it are willing to help those traveling the same path.

Put your support team together and don't be afraid to reach out for the help and assistance.

While you're at it, if you can help someone along the way, don't hesitate to give your assistance. There is always time to give back.

10

Keep Learning And Growing

Agree to Disagree

This last point is probably one of the most important ones when it come to becoming a Super Achiever. Even as you are succeeding, always keep learning.

Learning helps you make yourself better everyday. Stretch yourself to learn new things even if they are not directly related to your expertise or industry.

Learning new things keeps your brain active. It's easy to become too relaxed with what we already know. Seek out new avenues to keep your knowledge fresh, and to keep the creative juices flowing.

Seeking advice and knowledge from others can also help stimulate your own greatness. Keep expanding your knowledge and never get tired of learning. This is a sure path to Super Achievement.
